Producer / Host
Sarah Ray (she/her) is a transgender atheist woman. She came to humanism out of the “angry atheist” phase on seeing a need for secular communities to focus our energy into productive, positive impacts in our world. Sarah is an endorsed Humanist Celebrant and Vice President of The Humanist Society, Support Group Leader with Recovering from Religion, and co-founded the Atheist Community of Polk County (now the Humanist Community of Polk County), She has produced and hosted the “SarahTalk Podcast” since 2015 and “Freethought in Florida” from 2020-2021.
Host
Allie Ashmead (she/her) is a humanist who grew up in rural Virginia. She has been in the IT industry for nearly 30 years and has spent her career doing business analysis, supporting SaaS systems, and building cloud solutions to manage data. She actively supports many humanist organizations, has done volunteer work in her local community, and was co-host on the podcast and YouTube show “Freethought in Florida”. Relocated to Aurora, Colorado in recent years with her two cats, Rax and Mr. Digsby, she’s also a fluid abstract artist. She is a die-hard Star Trek fan, and sci-fi fan in general.
Starfleet Academy Instructor
Becca Ray (she/her) joins the show each week to stump Sarah and Allie with a trivia question about the episode.
Becca is also the Program Assistant at the American Humanist Association. Before joining the AHA, Becca was a Director and Co-Founder of The Atheist Community of Polk County, where she and her team developed various community outreach programs. She also served as an Assistant State Director for American Atheists for the state of Florida.
Each week, Cadet Instructor Becca challenges Sarah & Allie with a trivia question about the current episode (we are not doing so hot here). You can play along, too! Share out the episode with your answer to the week’s question and use the hashtag #StarfleetChallenge and we’ll pick our favorite for bragging rights. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the correct answer – NO GOOGLING! – we might pick the funniest or most outrageous answer, because it’s our show and we do what we want.
